Origin Story

Tossing and turning in bed. Worried that what had started as a calling had turned into indifference.

That's where I found myself almost a decade ago. Entering my 4th season as an NCAA D3 men's basketball head coach, I had seen the headlines (both on campus and in the surrounding community) regarding young men committing atrocious acts of harm against women, against younger men, and against each other. I couldn't point to any specific reason MY OWN players had not committed any of the acts, and that did not sit well with me. I had sat in living rooms across the west coast and promised families that entrusting their son to me meant "investing in the best version of him as a man" going forward. Yet, I hadn't committed any plan or strategy to that growth (besides the usual "work hard, practice hard" tired tropes we all have used in the past). I couldn't live with that failure anymore.

So I began the process of creating what today you know as the #TeamsOfMen approach to coaching boys and young men in any sport.

We serve coaches who feel the pull to be MORE for their players than just X & O schemers.
